Meet Author Kari Leigh Miller

Working together on a book means sharing your characters. When you develop your characters, you’re supposed to know who they are, who they want to be, and what makes them tick. So, to do something a little different and to get readers excited for our book, we’ve asked a few people who received Advance Reader Copies to think of some questions they’d like to ask our main characters, Josh Parker and Alessa Matthews.

But there’s a twist! Two characters, two authors, two different minds and writing styles merged into one book. We are each going to answer the reader posed questions from the character’s point of view. Hopefully it will show that our thoughts on who the characters are and how they would answer are in sync. If the answers differ widely, we’re still left with the fun.

Let’s see how well we do, independently, speaking for Josh and Alessa. We will not be looking at each other’s answers until we’ve posted them. We will not discuss the questions before hand. We will each just answer the questions to the best of our ability, from the role of the character being asked.

Josh, what is it that drew you to Alessa and made you feel like you couldn’t let her go?
I’m not entirely sure. I just knew, the moment she was wheeled into my ER, beaten and almost dead, that I had to protect her. She was strong despite her awful past, and she had the most gorgeous eyes that I swear can see clear to my soul.
Not to sound cheesy, but it was her eyes. That kick you get in your stomach when you know something is about to be different? That’s what I felt when she looked at me. Her eyes were so intense and so trusting. I immediately felt like this was a woman I didn’t want to let down.
Alessa, what is the worst part of not remembering?
Not being able to share things with Josh. When we went on our first date, he talked a lot about his childhood and his past, and I felt like I couldn’t offer anything to the conversation.
I would have to say it’s not knowing if my past will affect my future with Josh. It terrifies me to think that something I don’t remember will come to light and keep us from being together.
Josh, what were you like as a teen?
Stubborn but determined. My best childhood friend was deathly ill, and I vowed to become a doctor so I could save him. Sadly, I couldn’t, but I did keep part of my promise. I became a doctor.
By today’s standards? I probably would have been called a geek. I loved science even as a kid and understanding how things worked, how they came apart and went back together. I played sports and hung out with friends. My parents and sister would probably say I was moody, but I think I was just kind of serious.
Alessa, yoga pants or skirt?
Yoga pants!
Yoga pants. Absolutely.
Josh, game night with friends or night on the town?
Game night with friends. There’s just something fun about taking my brother in law’s money during a game of poker.
Game night with friends
Alessa, what word would you use to describe Josh?
Kind. He’s the most caring, compassionate man I’ve ever known.
Can I only use one? Loyal. Kind. Trustworthy. Genuine. Loving. I’m sorry. I can’t only use one
Josh, what is your favorite quality about Alessa?
Her tenacity. She’s been through so much, but she never once gave up.
Her heart. She sees past what makes me flawed, what makes any of us flawed and cares anyway.
Alessa, if Josh’s birthday were coming up, what would you buy him?
A poker set. He loves to have the guys over for poker, and I like to encourage that because it gives me time to hang out with his sister, who is so much fun!
A weekend getaway. I’m pretty sure it’s the only way he’d stop working and give himself a break.

So, what do you think? How did we do?
To get to know Josh and Alessa better, pick up a copy of DANGEROUS LOVE!

He’s fighting to forget his past while she struggles to remember hers...

Doctor Josh Parker lives with guilt about his wife’s death every day.
He believes himself incapable of ever loving again, but when a
mysterious woman arrives in the Emergency Room, brutally beaten and left for dead, he starts to feel something he hasn’t felt in far too long: hope.

Alessandra Matthews has no memory of the events that led to her being hospitalized. Worse, she has no idea who hurt her or why. Although she’s uncertain of who she is, she is fully aware of one thing -- she’s falling for her doctor.
Sometimes, what you don’t know can kill you...

As Josh and Alessa work to solve the mystery surrounding her past, she soon realizes just how much danger she’s really in, but Josh refuses to let her face the darkness of her memories alone. With each of them struggling to put their pasts behind them, theirs is a DANGEROUS LOVE.
